Zion Ministries of the Philippines was founded in 1989 as a non-sectarian parachurch ministry under the presidency of Rev. Norman Holmes. The Holmes family had already been missionaries in the Philippines for 5 years when the Lord called them to start this new ministry based in the Metro Manila area.
Leadership seminars were soon started, which have helped encourage and train the pastors and leaders of the body of Christ in dozens of provinces and cities throughout the nation.
Within a year the Zion Ministries magazine was started, which now is distributed to 35,000 pastors and leaders in the Philippines, as well as being published in many other nations and languages.
In 1993, the Lord spoke through a vision and prophecy for the ZMI schools to be started. That year the residential school in the Metro Manila area (Antipolo, Rizal) began, to be followed by many more extension ZMIs and correspondence ZMI schools in various provinces and four other nations.
Zion Ministries has further expanded internationally, sending Filipino missionaries, conducting seminars and distributing Bible teaching literature into over 50 nations around the world.
